“Mihai Eminescu” Technical High School

Mihai Eminescu” Technical High School is located in the village of Dumbrăveni, Suceava County, Romania, and it offers educational services for children and adults from Dumbrăveni and nearby villages. The village of Dumbrăveni is situated in a favourable area, on the alluvial plain of the Siret River, 15 kilometres away from the town of Suceava, a place filled with history, where the medieval country of Moldavia was founded. The calling card of the city of Suceava can be none other than the fortress of Stephan the Great and all the other kings from the MuÅŸatini dynasty before him. In the 2013-2014 school year, our school numbers 2017 students, of which 1761 are aged between 6 and 19 and 256 are adults enrolled in reduced frequency high school, specializing in Philology.

Our school pays special attention to educating young people able to adapt to the present requirements of the labour market. In this regard, the school’s offer and the optional courses meet the students’ requirements for education and promoting local, national and European culture and values. The levels and specializations from “Mihai Eminescu” Technical High School are as follows: preparatory class, primary school, secondary school, high school (theoretical branch, classes specializing in Philology, Intensive Mathematics-Informatics and Mathematics-Informatics), high school (reduced frequency, classes specializing in Philology), high school (technical branch, direct route, specializing as textile industry technicians and maintenance and repair mechanics), vocational school (specializing as clothing industry workers and mechanics).

In the 2013-2014 school year, there were 173 students enrolled in 9th grade, of which 92 in the theoretical branch and 81 in the technical branch. Compared with the 2012-2013 school year, there was a rise of 12% in students who chose the technical branch. The school staff consists of 94 teachers, 6 people in the maintenance department and 11 people in the administrative department. All the teachers are qualified and all the existing positions at the auxiliary staff level are occupied.

The teaching staff is constantly interested in improving themselves, being involved both in obtaining teaching degrees and in attending training courses; this school year, five teachers are scheduled to obtain the highest teaching degree.
